The practice of inducing a healthful sweat has long been known to be beneficial in detoxifying the body and helping to cure sicknesses of the skin, liver and circulation as well as relieving symptoms of rheumatism, arthritis, gout, muscular pains, colds and congestions and other chronic diseases. On the psychological and spiritual level it helps to remove tension, stress, fears and negative energies that one harbors within themselves. The Temazcal, because of its special methods, is perhaps the most effective of this kind of curative technique, certainly the list of conditions for which it has been used in the course of centuries is the most extensive.

The name Temazcal, or temazcalli is made of two Nahuatl words, temas, which means bath, and calli, meaning house. At the time of the Conquest, they were found everywhere in almost all of central and southern Mexico.
The Temazcal is oriented according to the cosmic directions: the fire which heats its stones is placed towards the east where our Father, the sun, the god called Tonatiuh, arises; he is the light or masculine element which comes and fertilizes the womb of the mother earth (the chamber of the Temazcal itself), and so life is conceived. The doorway through which the bathers enter and leave is oriented toward the south, “the pathway of the dead”, which begins with birth and ends in death, to the right of the path of Sun. In this way, the ever present duality of traditional Mexican thought is manifested. Just as there are mother and father, sun and earth, hot and cold, so we are born and, in being born, we begin our path towards death.

When we enter the Temazcal, according to this ancient doctrine, we return once again to our mother’s womb, presided over by the great goddess, Tonantzin or Temazcaltoci, the great mother of both gods and humans. She is our beloved mother, concerned with the health of the children and she receives us into her womb – of which our own mother’s womb is but a microcosmic manifestation – to cure us of physical and spiritual ills. The entrance way is low and small, and through it we enter a small, dark, warm and humid space, in this way recreating the uterus, cutting off the outside world and giving us a chance to look inside and find ourselves again. Our re-emergence through this narrow opening represents our rebirth from the darkness and silence of the womb.

Through the use of heated volcanic rocks and special herbs the trained healer, called a Temascalera, combines heat and humidity to help purify the body. The high heat and the high humidity, taken together, produce their healing effects, basically, through reducing or impeding the body’s mechanism for cooling itself. The heat, higher than normal body temperature, induces sweating; the high humidity inhibits the evaporation of the sweat, the chief method through which the body normally cools itself, and thereby, blood circulation is increased, sweating is increased, and the elimination of toxins is maximized.

Interactive Workshop Combining Lucid Dreaming, Healing and the Didgeridoo July 17th 2009

This event will be held in the mountains of Boulder Colorado

This workshop combines the power of the Australian Didgeridoo with Stellar Healing as a therapeutic tool. Originating in Egypt, Stellar Healing is an effective technique for healing the physical/emotional body using astrology as our guide. This process attunes the body to specific planetary energies then passes this energy through the hands of the healer into the person receiving the healing. Each planet has a specific frequency, which directly corresponds to a specific musical tone. By applying circular breathing or the basic drone of your didgeridoo with the correct planetary musical tone the human body becomes a tuning fork for cosmic energy, enabling the Didgeridoo to act as a healing instrument.

The sound that emanates from the Didgeridoo creates different overtones that are too high in frequency for the human ear to pick up. The cells and bones in the human body, however, do pick up these overtones, thereby attuning not only the healer, but also the person receiving the healing, to the desired planetary energy. This planetary energy can then be applied to assist in the healing of physical and emotional illness. Through directed intention the Didgeridoo player can focus the energy to the cells of the human body and generate a healing response for themselves or another person. By applying this technique, each person will learn how to play their Didgeridoo using circular breathing to generate powerful rhythms for healing. During the interactive performance/dance portion of the workshop, everyone will have a chance to experience the healing power of the Didgeridoo.

The goal of this workshop is to enable the participants to learn to use this technique for self-healing and to provide everyone with resources that they can take home and use for their own well being.

SCHEDULE

Day 1: A two-hour introduction with interactive performance/dance for learning and experiencing the power of the Didgeridoo. Next each person will learn how to make

a Didgeridoo made of PVC. We will create the Didgeridoo then paint it and learn how to apply the wax. This will be your tool that you will use for the rest of the seminar,

if you would like to purchase an authentic Didgeridoo before the workshop we can assist with your order or feel free to bring your own Didgeridoo.  The afternoon of this day we will then do the full   Step by step program for learning Lucid Dreaming the art of Dream Yoga

Day 2: Workshop 1 Focusing on getting the sweet spot. The sweet spot is when you get a drone sound and hold it with very little effort. By finding the sweet spot with your Didgeridoo you will begin to understand the process of circular breathing and have a tool that can produce powerful healing overtones. You can then begin healing with your Didgeridoo regardless of whether or not you are able to practice circular breathing.

Day 3: Workshop 2 Continue to learn circular breathing; practicing the Didgeridoo with basic rhythms; using your voice. We will explore how you can begin to tune your consciousness to the cosmic planetary energies simply by changing your voice while playing the Didgeridoo drone.

Day 4: Workshop 3Circular breathing; Practicing with visualization. Building energy for Stellar Healing; This workshop combines everything learned in the previous workshops with the proper planetary energies. Whether or not you are able to circular breath, you will still have a powerful healing tool that can be used to produce cosmic planetary energies. The primary focus of this workshop will be on your birth chart and where to direct the powerful sounds of your Didgeridoo within your physical body. Every participant will receive a copy of their astrological birth chart in this workshop. In the evening we will get to experience a Mayan or Native American Steam Bath (Temazcal)

The effectiveness of the workshops is enhanced in the outdoors. By interacting with Nature each participant can experience the inner connection between the Didgeridoo, Nature and themselves.

In order to make various techniques of Lucid Dream incubation successful, we need to be able to remember to do things that we have planned to do. Psychologists call this ‘prospective memory’ development. We all use prospective memory every day to remind us to do necessary and ordinary things, such as picking up the laundry, paying bills, meeting appointments, and brushing our teeth. Prospective memory becomes more difficult when the planned action is new to us, and we are not stimulated to remember it by frequent, salient cues. Unfortunately, we cannot use written memos to help us remember to do things in our dreams. That makes it quite challenging to remember to carry out our intention to recognize when we are dreaming.

One way around this difficulty is to make a habit of questioning our state of awareness. By following me on twitter you can test whether this is a dream by getting an automatic state test sent to you every day. Through this exercise, you will begin to have lucid dreams automatically. Lucid Dreaming Reality State Testing is the process of asking yourself the question Is this a dream? Then you do a State Test by looking at the words on the screen.

IS THIS A DREAM?

Next you look away for a quick second then you look back at the words. If they stay the same you are awake, but if the words on the screen change to something different then you are dreaming! The key to having lucid dreams with this exercise is to take a State Test (look away then look back) at the exact moment you see the question IS THIS A DREAM? on your twitter incoming shout from me.

All you need to do is follow me on twitter and I will randomly send out a Lucid Dreaming tip with the question IS THIS A DREAM? At the exact moment you receive the message you must remember to practice the State Test exercise.   If you can remember to do the exercise (look away then look back) every time I send out the message, eventually you will begin to dream you are receiving the IS THIS A DREAM message. By taking the State Test in your dreams, you can become lucid and know you are dreaming.

This is a great fun way to start lucid dreaming.

Part 2 Using Overtones

This exercise is from  my book Manifestation Through Spiritual Power. This is a great thing to do while you are playing around with generating energy for healing with your Didgeridoo

There are actually seven more days of light than there are days of dark, creating a spiral of life moving in the direction of spiritual light, and signifying a system that is present to us here and now on the material plane. This system is actually working toward spiritual progress in a divine spiritual deity. If the system of life is creating a spiral of more light, it is ascending to spiritual life as a whole. If this system is composed of what makes life on this plane of existence, the light and dark, how can we not have faith that all beings within this existence aren’t working toward the same light of spiritual deity?

This brings us to spiritual power and its application, which creates all life on earth. The application of spiritual power is the pull, or combination of negative and positive forces, that are brought together to create a third element, which is life. Therefore, spiritual power is not only the ability to perceive love, light and happiness in all that we do for all beings of existence, but also the ability to do what I might call raising above. Raising above is creating the spiral that is present within the earth, moving toward spiritual deity and using it in everyday life. Raising above takes the experiences of ife that are composed of the dross (discord or negative experiences) and raising above them into the light by pulling out the gem of the dross, or negativity. The dross and/or negative experiences is the dark, and raising above is seeing the system of light that it is to create the gem, to create the spiral affect toward the common good of all, resulting in spiritual power. A discordant experience is the dark. Recognizing that discordant experience is needed to create positive or harmonious experience is raising above, is being the light, is finding the gem of the experience that signifies the spiral of life moving toward spiritual deity.

This scenario illustrates the balance of negative and positive forces creating a third element that creates life in a spiritual manner. As I men-tioned before, by using meditation and lucid dreaming, we can obtain the ability to perceive spirituality. This is an important key to conscious manifestation. The first technique that I like to use is raising your vibratory rate by will. It should be practiced on a regular basis and used for applying antidotes in discordant situations.

Exercise : Instantly Altering Your Vibratory Rate

When playing your Didgeridoo, imagine that you are in the inner world. Fully relax, using one of the techniques described earlier. Visualize your room again, just as in “Exercise Four.” Do this for about ten minutes so that you can clear all the things going through your mind from the day’s activities. When you feel that you are relaxed, that your mind is clear, and that the image of where you are is well formed, you are ready to start the exercise.

Take a few moments to realize what you are feeling right now. Determine whether you feel happy, sad, elated, lethargic, etc. Slowly try feeling, a completely different feeling, something higher and more positive. Don’t think about this; just use your imagination to change your feelings.

You might move your attention downward to your heart, for that is known in mysticism to be a major center of feelings. In Asia they call this the “heart chakra.” In the western tradition it is an important energy center also. Feel what you want to feel, blending all sensations of your being into one. What usually works for me is to think of a pleasant event and how happy I felt at that time. Using memory, I then re-experience that feeling, just as though it were happening now.

When you are experiencing that new and better feeling, you should be able to perceive that you have moved to a new level of the inner world. This is because you changed how you feel. If you feel worse than when you started, you have probably gone to a lower level. On the other hand, if you feel better, you have most likely gone to a higher level. I think it is better to go to a higher level, since going lower can be unpleasant.

If you did this exercise correctly, you should have changed your vibratory rate up or down, raising or lowering the level of your consciousness at will. Mastering this skill for the control of your feelings is one of the most important things you can do in both waking and inner life. Your feelings determine the quality of your experience, no matter where you are. This exercise should enable you to see and experience different levels of the inner world.”

By having the ability to lucid dream, we are able to go to planes of existence made of pure spirituality. These realms are incredibly beautiful; they usually consist of an environment of colors that are of the most wonderful radiating light, usually of the upper colors that exist on the material plane. The beings that we may contact there are of the most spiritual and loving of all, and the feeling that exists within these places are of all harmony. If we are to get high enough by raising our vibratory rate to a place of spiritual existence where all that is felt is harmony for all things, we are able to reach places that cannot be explained in material words except for love and harmony for all.

In this one-and-one-half hour session, we will employ a 12 steps based on a number system drawn from an ancient Egyptian Hermetic system of Astrology. This system acknowledges the inherent intelligence of the body to recognize and to remember its original state of being. Steps 1,2 and 3 Ceremony,Balance and Animal Power

A ceremony is preformed to call in any energy’s that are there to assist the treatment. Next by applying Reflexology to the feet in a specific order of numbers the electromagnetic energy of the body is released into the nerves system generating relaxation and healing. This gives the body the proper energy needed to begin a altered state.

Part 3

Steps 4,5 and 6. Spreading the energy,Preparing for the oils and Applying the oils.

We massage the legs with long strokes, pushing and spreading the energy up from the feet. This is done in a special way by rubbing along the energy meridian of the body, heating the legs while visualizing the energy flowing and building strength as it moves up the legs and connects with the sexual organs.

We massage the spine, pulling the energy up from the hips and spreading it throughout the entire back. This is done by visualizing the energy spreading from the base of the hips and up the spine as the client uses their breath to help the energy move up the body.

Seven essential oils are dispensed like little drops of rain from a height of about six inches, and gently massaged alongside of the vertebrae. The oils are dropped onto the body in a very special way using a numerical system that aligns the seven emotional parts of the character. Seven drops are applied on both sides of the spine using the first oil. The drops are evenly dispersed from the base of the sacrum to the base of the neck, giving a signal to the nervous system to begin the adjustment of the spine. A series of hand swipes are applied to spread the oil: Three swipes up the right side while asking the first
emotional layer of the male side of the body to work on all three levels physical, emotional and spiritual; three swipes up the left side while asking the first emotional layer of the female side of the body to work on all three levels. Then 10 swipes are applied with even pressure up both sides to reset the cycle of the first layer within the emotional body. Next, light circles are massaged up the spine over points 3 through 8 in the diagram. As this is done, the energy is directed to be built up within point number 3. The process of applying the oils is repeated 7 times, the only difference being that the energy is directed to build in point number 3 and end with point number 10 in the diagram.
Oils used:
1 Thyme: Proven scientifically to be anti-infectious, anti-bacterial,
and anti-viral.
2 Oregano: Works similarly to thyme but is more aggressive
and helps stimulate the immune system.
3 Wintergreen: Anti-inflammatory. Helps relieve pain. It
may also help with arthritis, tendonitis and rheumatism.
4 Cypress: Helps circulation and helps to relieve spasms,
cramps, edema, cellulite, and varicose veins along with
water retention.
5 Peppermint: Used to soothe and strengthen the nerves. It
also helps bring harmony between the other oils to enhance
their individual activity.
6 Basil: Smoothes muscles with its anti-spasmodic activity
and is also known to stimulate the nerves, alleviate mental
fatigue, and relieve migraine headaches.
7 Marjoram: Anti-spasmodic and helps to relax the
muscles and relieve cramping, aches and pains.

All oils are from Young Living Essential oils

Part 4

Steps 7,8 The Tibetan Singing Bowl and Releasing the Neck.

A Tibetan singing bowl is rung 3 times, representing the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. At the same time it is placed gently on the spine on point number 3 in the diagram. The overtones that are created by the bowl vibrate the physical cells of the body, reminding them to work in their natural configuration, thereby creating a chain reaction effect. This is repeated 6 more times placing the bowl directly on points 3 through 10. This allows all of the energy that has been generated up to this point in the session to move to that spot in the body directly under the bowl, creating an alignment of the physical, emotional and spiritual parts of the character.

The client now turns over and a deep massage is applied throughout the vertebra of the neck to release the tension within the neck and head.

Part 5

Step 9. Connecting the Heart to the Head using the Native American Flute.

Energy work is applied starting with the feet and moving up to the stomach. The energy is assisted to flow evenly up through the stomach into the heart. A Native American flute is then played over the top of the head and in each ear. This creates the number 3 as the music balances the right and left hemispheres of the brain while using a special type of visualization to let the soothing music of the flute connect the energy coming from the heart to the head.

Part 6

Steps 10,11 and 12.The Aborigine Didgeridoo and Giving Thanks

Now that the flute has opened the flow of energy coming from the heart, energy work is applied to 6 different locations on the neck and head. This creates a positive energy flow coming from the heart to the top of the head, and preparing the energy to move out the top of the head.

A didgeridoo is played, creating powerful overtones, while the circular breathing generates large amounts of electromagnetic energy that is directed by the healer. This is done in a special sequence. While playing the instrument into one ear, the healer’s hand is placed on the left foot. This assists the energy to flow up the left side of the body. The same is repeated on the right side of the body. Then the instrument is played on the top of the head creating the number 3. The energy flow is then activated as represented in the diagram.

A prayer is said to give thanks to God and the heavenly beings that were present to assist us in the session. We also give thanks to Mother Earth and the elemental energies of Fire, Earth Air and Water. As this session comes to completion the physical body is now free from pain and stress, realigned on all 3 levels.

This step 2 in my didgeridoo classes were I show you how I learned how to circular breathe.  Remember that after you master the art of circular breathing it can be used as a tool for healing the body.  The energy that is created when breathing in this way is very powerful and can induce a LD experience just by doing some basic visualization when playing.

Here are some lucid dreams that I have had

Tank experience called Mer-Ka-Ba . Feeling of happiness.

10/13/00 10:30 am I went into the flotation tank trying to come out of my body.  After about forty minutes I began to hear the fan for ventilation in the tank grinding. I started to think what is that? Is the fan broken? At that moment I could feel a buzzing sensation all over my body. What is that?  I am thinking as the buzzing sound got stronger and stronger.  Soon the buzzing was very loud in my ear and filling my body with a vibration that went all the way to my bones.  That was the moment that I new I was starting to dream.
I then began to come out of my body. I was floating out of the tank into a world of absolute beauty the colors were not of this place.  I knew that this was a spiritual experience. I could feel love thought out my entire body. Bright colors of beauty were flashing all around me.  I Than heard a voice coming out of no place right in my ear it was my intuition. “Jerimiah relax and don’t to get too excited.” Excitement was rushing through my entire body. Using all my concentration I began to breathe deeply as my intuition spoke again,” good, relax Jerimiah.” All of a sudden I floated all the way out of my body I found myself within a world of colors flashing with beauty all around me. I knew this place because I have ban to it before in the past. Thinking this is the spiritual plane.  The feeling of absolute love was all around and in front of me was a  Mer-Ka-Ba
about 30 or so feet in all directions and it was activated. I was looking at a double tetrahedron, two triangles spinning in opposite directions right on top of each other, one right side up and the other upside-down.  I thought, that is amazing what is this place? I have never seen a moving Mer-Ka-Ba before in the dream world. Right in the middle of the markaba was a door like thing illuminating the most wonderful colors and lights, constantly changing as these massive triangles spin around and around. I immediately wanted to go into the middle of the Mer-Ka-Ba .  Looking to my left I could see my wife, she was standing right next to the Mer-Ka-Ba  and in-between us was a very small 3 foot Merkaba. This Mer-Ka-Ba  was  also spinning but made of all gold.   I was so happy I got distracted form wanting to go into the bigger Markaba.  Then the buzzing started to come back into my body and became too powerful and I started to wake up.  I then awoke at 11:30am knowing that I had just ban to a most amazing place, I had the feeling of absolute love and beauty all around me. I was so excited and I knew that this one would stay with me for a long time.

I went in to the floatation tank at 8:30 am.  I begin to do some mediation to relax my body, for some reason I am very nerves and can relax my body or calm my mind.  I tern on same soft music and put a program on the light and sound machine to induce a deep theta state.  The program stops a half of an hour later and I can feel that I am in a deep theta state and that REM is going to come soon, I begin the wake induced exercise for entering a lucid dream.  Seeing my hand in front of me I flip them over and over repeating to my self I am dreaming I am dreaming, the next thing that I now I am starting to float into the dream world.   As I come out into the dream I am on top of a tall building I now that I am dreaming and I remember that I all that I want to do is fly around and have some fun.  I run and jump of the building and begin to fly I can feel that wind in my face as I pick up speed.  At that moment I remember I want to swim under the water and breath.  Instantly I am flying over an ocean, I land and start to walk into the waves as they get bigger and bigger.  A big wave bigger then me crash down over my head throwing me back into the water.  The force of the wave is so strong and I can feel the water rushing through my body, thinking this is a dream and I can swim within this water and breath like the fish.   I begin to swim deeper and deeper into the ocean all around me are strange looking fish and the water is very dirty, I am wondering what is going on thinking I want to swim in clear water why is this water so dirty. I swim up to the surface of the water and am astonished to see that the world was different then when I had gone in the ocean. I was in the future the sky was black and there were flying machines all around flying in the sky.  Knowing that I am still dreaming I begin to fly back to where my body is.  Thinking I will find my body and induce an out of body experience and when I am out of my body I will pass energy through it healing my self.   Instantly I could see the Mile High Dream Institute, going in side I see the tank and begin to open the door. I could see my feet in the tank as the door opened, then before I knew what was going on I was in the flotation tank and I had forgot that I was dreaming. I could see some one opening the door to the tank, thinking who is that and what are they doing disturbing me.  All of a sudden it hit me, I remembered that I had the glasses on for the light and sound machine and that I could not see through them. This reminded me that I was dreaming still because I was watching my self open the door to the tank, I immediately remembered everything and awoke at 10:00am

Lucid dream in the floatation tank 06/11/01 flying with patterns of sacred geometry

I went into the floatation tank at 830am on June 11, 2001 after completing a serious of meditations to enter the Dream State the dream world began to appear.  I found my self-walking in a strange house I knew that I was dreaming.  In front of me was a hall and it was very dark. Chills ran down my spine as I walked towed a door. Thinking to my self I am dreaming and in the floatation tank I don’t have to be scared.  I saw a door to the right of me with a piece of tape that looked like police tape. It read crime scene the house of Jerimiah Molfese. I instantly felt very scared; wondering what is this in my dream Jerimiah Molfese is me. Calming my self down with the thought that I am dreaming and I don’t have to be scared. I opened the door braking the tape and stepped back from the door to see what would come out.  Instantly I could feel a buzzing all around my body getting stronger and stronger.  Before I could understand what was going on I found my self being pulled up into the sky faster and faster.  Knowing that I was in the floatation tank the intense sensation of fear and excitement began to fade.  Faster and faster I moved through the clouds the pulling sensation was uncontrollable.  Past the clouds and into space I could se earth getting smaller and smaller then moving backwards I went right through what seemed to be like a nebula of some sort with colors of golden swirling inward.  I stopped after coming and found my self-staring at a large geometrical pattern. It was made of golden light and bigger then me bigger then anything I could imagine. Thinking this is a pattern of sacred geometry. Then the geometrical pattern changed into the flower of life. I after this giant pattern of beauty was finished transforming I stared to wake up. The next thing that I new I was back in the floatation tank with a wonderful felling of excitement surging through my entire body.

LUCID DREAM IN THE TANK 01/19/00 FEELING OF WONDER TITLE SPACE SEARCH

I was in the tank at 6am and after about 40 minutes I began to come out of my body.  I could feel the sensations of floating up and through the tank.  I found myself on a road walking. I knew that I was dreaming and wanted to fly to space. I flew up about 100 feet into the air and started to fall. I then started to flap my arms like a bird and went even higher but for some reason I couldn’t fly all the way to space and came falling down to the ground.  On the ground was a hole about the size of me and in the hole was space. I was thinking to myself I could fly through the ground and get to space. As I started to fly through the ground I could see all the layers of the earth until I came to the middle of the earth and out the other side. I was in space with all the stars around me. I then remembered my intention to do a healing for my wife. I began to fly back to the ground and tried to fly to my house for I knew that she was sleeping right now.  I was having trouble flying to the house so I tried to just bring her to me. The next thing that I knew we were on a train. Karina was right in front of me. I gathered some green light in my hands and passed it through her body keeping a positive state of mind thinking of health and happiness. When I was done I wanted to fly through the wall. On the other side of the wall was a mirror and I tried to fly through that but when I did I awoke. End of dream 830am

Lucid Dream in the Floatation tank 04/17/01 sensations of love awaken

I went into the floatation tank at 8:30am on this morning.  I put in a tape that I made to first, relaxing the body and then enter the dream through wake induced.  The tape was finished and I knew that one half of an hour had past. I begin my normal meditation by looking at my dream hands and concentrating on my third eye as I create some very special imagery with in my mind’s eye.  The next thing that I new.  I was in the tank feeling very hot, I didn’t no how long it had ban and I seemed to have gone into a complete void state.  A state where I am surrounded by nothing feeling nothing no time nothing, this sometimes happens in the tank no dreams no visions no imagery nothing.  I had my sweater on so I got to hot that was the only thing that I could notice.  I got up and opened the door and took my sweater of and began to float again.  I think it was a matter of minuets maybe five maybe ten it is really hard to tell, I started to hear a swishing sound within my ears soon this swishing started to tern into some faint music. I knew that the dream was starting and I was getting ready to enter the dream world.  Lights began to flash on my face moving through my body and soon the dream appeared.

With music of beauty gently with in my ears I see a big tunnel with light beaming out of the other side coming closer and bigger as I move within. The music is lowered now and I am flying with absolute speed  through this unbelievably huge tunnel toward the most wonderful light. Knowing that I am now not in the Floatation tank but DREAMING.   Flying faster and faster out the other side I go and landing at the post office of my hometown ward Colorado.  Thinking I am dreaming and in this dream I will do nothing but have fun! Fun! Fun! Remembering that I have ban a but under the weather and wanted to have some fun. Jumping into the air I begin my journey into the dream world flying all around my home town faster and faster I can feel the wind pushing a worm wind on my face as I race through the clouds like super man. This is so much fun , I flip into the air. I look down on the ground and see a good friend of mine, leaf. Landing next to him. Leaf this is a dream and I am in my floatation tank right now I say with excitement.  Jerimiah go out for a pass he replies. As he pulls a baseball out of his pocket. I fly faster then ever straight up into the clouds. Leaf up here. He throws the ball right at me. I am thinking that is far, but this is even further,  looking in the distance I see another friend coming down the mountain side about half a mile from him. Launching the ball with all my might it goes flying past leaf right to my other friend.  The feeling of absolute excitement rushes through my body for in the waking world I cant throw a ball very far and I especially cant do it from up here.  Waving my friend’s goodbye I begin to fly to space.  I pass over the phone building remembering that the last time that went over this building in a dream I was pulled in a southward direction uncontrollably.  Instantly a force came out of no where and it began to happen again. 100 feet or so down the road I find myself falling to the ground.  I will not hit the ground I will fly, with my hand out in front of me, I flying straight up faster then before, in front of me are telephone wires everywhere, they go past me with a blur. Dogging them the best that I can as they scrap upon my arms and lags.  Over the mountain and into some clouds I go instantly remembering about my Lucid Dreaming Class for kids.  With this thought in mind I begin to fall to the ground. I land on the window of a house full of kids.  Hovering in mid air 5 or so kids walk up to me sticking their little heads out the window.   What are you doing out there they ask.  I am Lucid dreaming and this is a dream.  Would you like to learn how this is done?   I can here laughing in the background of children.  No really this is a dream and you too can fly like me. I grab a little boy ever so gently and begin to fly to the ground.  Setting him on the ground, I notice his mother is standing there.  How did you do that? She asks. I am dreaming and you to can fly like me.  I am having a Lucid Dreaming class for kids soon it I important for kids to understand the power there dreams. I say with joy.  She looks at with a smile.  Thanks for that information she replies.  Ok then I say as I fly up into the air and off towed Boulder.  Thinking I want to find my wife and make love to her as we fly in the air.  I race past my old house and within minuets I am flying over an out door mal with hundreds of beautiful woman walking by.  I land and immediately remember that I am looking for my wife suddenly she comes walking through the crowd of people.  Hi honey this is a dream, do you want to fly as we make love together? Yes!  That would be very exciting she replies. I embrace her with my enter body and love as we begin to float into the air. Five feet and then ten, I realize I have no close and she is in a very sexy secret. We begin to make love the feeling is absolutely amazing, like floating into heaven with the women you love. Sensations of excitement surround my body and instantly I am awakened to find my self in the tank sounded with a feeling of absolute amazement and love.  I awake at 10:30

Tank experience/ Buddha awaken 11/16/00 930am to 1130am feeling of knowing.

I am in the flotation tank doing my concentration technique for having a lucid dream.  About a half an hour passes by and I start to find myself swinging in a hammock doing the exercise for entering a lucid dream through wake induced.  I am holding a ball of light on my third eye repeating the next time I am dreaming I will remember to recognize that I am dreaming.  I am looking at my hands and flipping them over as I say it.   I then start to imagine that I am walking down a sidewalk. At this point I still thought I was lying in a hammock doing an exercise to get lucid. But in reality I was really in the tank dreaming I was lying in a hammock performing a lucid dream exercise.  I am imagining that I am walking down a sidewalk saying do you know how to do it? An old man in a Tibetan Buddhist outfit says as he is siting next to a store,” what is that, boy?” I said to him, ”do you know how to get lucid? He says, ”how?”  I then tell him you first run. As we start to run together I say you must breathe. As we begin to breathe together I said,” then you jump into the air and say  “ I am dreaming”” At that moment he ran much faster than I could and I realized I was dreaming, thinking that this is an old man how can he run so fast.  I jumped into the air flying very close to the ground.  Thinking to myself I am in the flotation tank and I am dreaming, I knew my intention was to continue the healing work for Paula.  I am flying very fast on the ground and very close to the ground but as soon as I remembered my intention, I started to fly higher up.  I was concentrating on finding Paula, thinking of being higher in the sky.  I started to flap my arms like a bird and started to go higher and higher in the sky. I knew I was in a big city and I had to get on top of the tallest building to find or summon Paula.  I went very high in the sky and was almost at the top of a very old building. I started to lose my momentum upward so I grabbed on to a peak of the building and began to pull my self on to the roof. But as I did 3 birds (they looked like pigeons, not all white but part blue) flew right by my face and made me lose my grip as I then fell down and awoke.

TANK 10/16/00 1030am to 1158am Feeling confusion Title false awakening by light.

I went in the tank performing the concentration exercise when I thought, it sure has been a long time. I was wondering if I was going to make it in to the lucid dream when I started to hear the chimes of the spiritual plane.   I then came out of my body. I began to fly through the door. I had no voice telling me anything.   I then decided that I was going to go through the window.  I hovered into the air and started to fly through the window. I was trying to be relaxed and calm, instantly I was back in the tank. I thought, shit I awoke too fast.  I was thinking it sure is hot in here. As I wiped some sweat from my head, I then saw a little bit of light coming from the ceiling of the tank. I thought, that is strange, it should be dark in here. I then thought that it must be the light from some one opening the door in the room. I opened the door to the tank and saw the door to the room closing.  Thinking to my self is that my mom? I wonder what she wants.  I then realized that there was still light in the tank but it was a bright point of light coming in the tank, I thought that is sunlight, how could there be sun light in the tank?  I then knew that I was still dreaming and all of a sudden I fell out of the tank on to the floor of the room. It startled me so much that I awoke for real this time.

HEALING FOR PAULA SCHENK 10/25/00 10:15AM TO 11:15AM

I went into the flotation tank with the intention to have a lucid dream and do some healing for Paula.  After looking at her birth chart I determined that the problem has to do with mars energy. Anger about feeling pleasure .My thought was that she needs moon energy in the place of mars.   Moon is the antidote for mars and in this circumstance I have a feeling that it has to do with not being the mother or not having mothering around her after her kids moved out of the house. I had the feeling that this might be an expression of the body needing to be nurtured and loved like a mother cares for her children.
I did not come full out of my body but I was able to extend my conscience to Paula. The rapport was very strong and it was as if she was right next to me, I began by communicating with her body. She was lying down and I suggested that it is ok to be mothered like a child again as I saw her playing like a little girl.  I then began to build lunar moon energy in my hands filling the energy with love and seeing images of a mother loving and holding her baby, as I passed the energy thorough her spine I could see the area that was ill.    The energy began to pass into her body filling her with joy then I saw her spine become full of energy and very healthy.  I remembered that she loved to dance, so I danced with her letting her know that there is no problem with her back and that she can dance freely. We danced salsa. I did a couple of dips the first one was a bit strange for her but then she realized that this is the dream body and she can dip and twirl all she wants. I then took her hand and began to dance with her in the air as we floated into the air.  I continued to fill her body with energy until she looked strong excited, and happy.  I awoke to her face right in front of me in the darkness of the flotation tank.

Healing Paula 10/31/00-10:15am to 11:30am

I went into the flotation tank at 10:15am.  My intention to help with the process of Paula for her back.  Knowing that she needs moon energy I begin, this was the second session.  My concentration was weak so after about 15min of relaxation of my body I was able to concentrate a bit better.  I started to visualize her in my minds eye then I fell asleep and started to dream that we were together she was in a white and blue nightgown lying on the bed.  I went over to her and told her that it was ok to feel free like a little girl. I put my hands on her head and began to create energy that started to flow down her spine.  I then suggested that the love is greater than the pain instantly she stood up and turned into a little child.   A beautiful little girl she was, dancing and playing with all the freedom of a little girl.  I then began to awake as I did I opened my eyes and could see Paula in the tank, I thought that is neat because the tank is pitch dark I can still see the dream even though I am awake.  I gave her a bit more loving energy and woke up fully then came out of the tank.

Healing for Paula 11/7/00-9:00am to 11:00am

I went into the flotation tank with the intention to do a healing for Paula. I had her picture in my hand as I begin to fall asleep.  The next thing that I knew I was standing next to a large building, I knew my intention was to heal Paula.  I was staring at the building thinking I will fly up to the top and into the clouds.   I started to lift off the ground.  I could feel a deep falling sensation in my stomach as I began to fly up into the clouds.    I think to myself that I must find Paula.  I start to fly toward the great big lake thinking that this is one of the Great Lakes in NY.   The sensation in my stomach got stronger and I started to fall down. As I hit the ground I could feel part of my body and I started to awaken.   I don’t want to awaken right now but the feeling in my stomach got too strong and I awaken in the tank holding Paula’s picture in my hand. I turned on the light and looked at it and then turned it off within the pitch dark I could still see her. I closed my eyes and there she was wearing a big blue sweater.  I thought you sure do look beautiful in blue.  I then gathered energy in my hands and held her hands in mine.  The energy started to flow into her and light her up after about two or three minutes of this she was glowing with radiant beauty. I then remembered that I had an appointment soon and I better get out of the tank to prepare for my appointment.  I awoke fully and came out of the tank.

Healing Paula # 4 11/21/00 10am to 12am Title – False awakening feeling of love

I went into the flotation tank with my intention to do a healing for Paula. I started to dream that I was in her house in the flotation tank doing my exercise to get in to a lucid dream.  The next thing that I knew I was flying at my dad’s house in the kitchen, I knew that I was dreaming and I knew my intention. I was trying to fly out the windows to get on my way to find Paula. I tried one widow and smashed into it, at that moment I remembered that I can go through the widows at an angle and I can’t go very fast through them. Then I tried going slowly and straight on, as I passed through the window I could feel it all throughout my body. I still knew that I was dreaming and I still knew my intention, I began to fly up into the sky calling Paula to me when all of a sudden I awake in the flotation tank.   I was thinking it is very quiet here because some times I hear things in the flotation tank, at that moment I realized that I had moved my flotation tank to Paula’s house. I then said I don’t want to stop trying so I went back into the dream state not knowing that I was still dreaming for the flotation tank was right here in Boulder Colorado.  I visualized a big cliff in front of me and began to jump off of it as I then was flying again.  When I realized that I was still dreaming I went into a big house and started to ask for Paula. All of a sudden my dad showed up and I thought about doing some healing work for him. So put my hand in front of me and created some sparkling golden energy but as I started to pass it to my dad he began to turn into Paula fading from my dad to Paula. So I grabbed my dad’s hand and gave the energy to him. Eventually I started to awaken.  I wake up in a strange house in the flotation tank. When I got out of the flotation tank my brother was there but he was sleeping on the bed next to the tank. At that moment I realized that I was still dreaming and I went back into the flotation tank to wake up. I then woke up for real in Boulder Colorado in the real tank.

LUCID DRAM IN THE TANK SERCHING FOR SPIRTUAL BEINGS

I went in the floatation tank at 6am on May 1, 2002. I began by listening to a CD to induce a lucid dream. The CD went off I knew that 30 min. had passed. I continued the exercise for entering the Dream State by wake induced. Within what seemed to be about 45 min I began to dream. I could see a lady in the distance waving me to come to here. I then herd her voice very close to me saying come it is ok.   The next thing that I knew I began to dream fully.  I began to float up through the wall of the room and was out side. It was very gloomy out side and the clouds were covering everything. I instantly remembered my intention to look for a higher being. I began to fly around searching for and asking for a being of spirituality to come to me.  The next thing I knew I was in a park and there was my mother talking to some people at a table.  I passed by here thinking is she a higher being then I saw my father doing the same thing.  I landed on the ground and in the distance I could see my friend patty.  Remembering that she had some health problems I wen over to her and created a ball of purple energy within my hand.  I passed the energy into here hart and gave her my love. I began to fly around continuing my search.  All of a sudden I could fell water falling over my face. I landed on the ground and thought what is that. The water stopped falling on my face. I began to fly again continuing my search for a spiritual being. Then once again there it was the water falling on my face.  I was fully lucid and knew that I was in the floatation tank thinking that I might have a bloody nose, knowing that sometimes I get them while sleeping.  Within a flash there I was in the tank with the feeling of water running down my face. I placed my hand on my face surprised to see that my nose was bleeding. I panicked and jumped up trying to find the door to the tank.  I was very scared that I was going to get blood all over the tank. Scrabbling around the tank looking for the door I realized when I could not find the door to get out that I must have still been dreaming.  Instantly I was back lying in the tank feeling paralyzed.  I opened my eyes but could not move my body. Looking down and my feet I could see it. There it was a being made of pure light siting at the bottom of the tank. I then looked up at the ceiling and I could see a faint geometrical pattern made of light, it looked similar to a computer chip but made of pure light.  I was still paralyzed and could not move my body. I began to tell my self that I wanted to wake up now and slowly I could feel my body begin to move. Everything faded into blackness and the light computer chip as well as the being made of pure light disappeared into blackness. I wake for real this time at 745am. Feeling very startled and excited by the whole experience.

Lucid dram in the floatation tank on 06/27/01 looking for a guide

I went into the tank at 830 am. After about 45 minuets the dream started to appear I could see the dream world in front of very clear. I was very excited and new that I could enter the dream if I wish. I started to imagine that I was flying of a big hill and the next thing that I new I was in the dream at a restaurant bar. At this bar they had two float tanks and I was talking with a lady. In fact it was the same lady that was in my last lucid dream. I knew that I was dreaming so I asked her what to do about my financial situation with the business. She said, how about if I pay for the rent for both places. I then asked her about the work. She told me that she would pay for the rent but I have to do all the work. I thought that would be great. I then began to fly all around, at this pinot I was semi lucid. All the waters were doing some sort of show so I thought I am dreaming and I can fly over there and do a huge back flip into the air.  I used all my concentration to stay off the ground as I flew into the space were everyone was doing the show and did a back flip but laded on my back not my feet. At that moment I became fully lucid and began to fly out side getting higher and higher in the sky. I was on Pearl Street and it was nighttime I knew that I was dreaming fully and new my intention was with me. I started to fly up into space I was flapping my arms slowly and gracefully as I flew higher and higher. I got past the telephone wire level thinking, as the wires go by I will go even further. At that moment I thought of my intention and started to call out for a guide the whole thing got me confused and I began to wake up. Waking at 10:30am.

Lucid dream in the floatation tank 02/05/02 healing Tom

I went into the tank at 9am.   After listening to my lucid dream CD I began to dream that I was lying in the tank looking around with a flashlight. I knew that I was dreaming and opened the door to the tank I began to float up through the building.   The feeling of floating is always very amazing giving me a pulling sensation in my gut.  I flew outside and started to fly fast straight up into the clouds. My body is now filled with excitement bursting through me like lightning the lucidity is now stronger then ever.   I land on the ground and start to think of my wife Karina. With in an instant she is right in front of me and I know that I want to make love to here.  As we begin to make love I can feel sexual energy surging through out me. After about 10 or 15 mints of for play we start having intercourse.  The lucidity is very strong now I now that I am dreaming 100%, the feeling of making love with the women of my dreams out in an open field excites me to the point of orgasm. I now that I am dreaming I have nothing to hide and feel absolutely safe.  We continue to make love for a bit when I remember my intention for this lucid dream.   With my intention now set in my mind I separate from my wife and begin to fly up into the air once again.  Faster and faster I go flying towed Mexico do some haling work for my good friend tom.   With an instant I am in Mexico flying over his apartment.   I land in front of his place and open the door.   Asking tom are you home. Tom is lying on the bed watching some TV.  I shut the TV off and ask if it is ok if I do some healing work for his head and eye.   Tom gives me the permission and I put my hands on his head creating some electrical energy in my hands and passing it through his right eye.   I notice that there is a little bump on the upper part of his right eye. I focus until the bump is gone.    Finishing with the healing I give tome my regards and begin to fly back to boulder.   Spending about another 20 min flying around I decide to wake up by will so that I will remember everything. I close my eyes in the dream and awake back in the floatation tank back in boulder.  I woke up at 1120am.

Lucid dream in the floatation tank on 02/19/01 healing Valerie.

I went into the float tank at 1030am after about one hour I began to dream.  I found my self in a car driving down a road I knew that I was dreaming and deiced to take the car of the road. The second that I did I began to float through the window. I then began to fly into the sky I instantly remembered my intention to do some haling work for Valerie.  Flying faster now trying to find here thinking and saying out loud Valerie come to me Valerie come to me.   The next thing that I new I was watching Valerie siting in a room with a big glass window almost like she was doing some sort of test.    I called out to here.  After getting her attention I began to awake.  I found my self in the floatation tank in a hypnogogic state of sleep.  I was awake but still dreaming.  The dream of me talking with Valerie was right in front of me.   I held out my hands and told Valerie that I am going to do some haling work for you try to relax.  I began to create a light blue purple energy within my hands and then passed the energy through her hands focusing all my intention on here hart.  All the electrical energy went surging through here body creating a glow around here.  She was smiling happy.  I gave here a big hug with lots of love and told here good buy until the next time.  At that moment I awake fully and got out of the tank at 1200pm.

Lucid dream in the flotation tank 06/25/01 guidance

I went in to the tank with the intention to have a lucid dream and get some guidance on what to do with my business.  After about 45min of meditation I began to get lucid. I had forgot my intention and my wife was next to me we were in a strange place. I began to make love to here knowing that I was dreaming but not with my intention fully set I began to awake.  As I started to wake up I started to spin around thinking I am dreaming I am dreaming. The next thing that I new I was at the institute picking up some papers.  I knew that I was dreaming and I knew my intention fully. I asked out loud for a guide to come and help me. The next thing that I knew a lady walked in to the room. I asked here if she could help me with some deiced some things. What should I do what the mile high dream institute. She looked at me and said that you should stick with it as much as you can. Don’t give up it will get better. I knew that she was there to help me. I then began to wake up again so I started to spin and then the next thing that noticed I was walking down a street I knew that I was still dreaming and wanted to fly around and go to space. I jumped into the air and started to fly I was jumping from a couple of building when I say my shadow I realized that it was a monster some kind of wolf like thing. I was not scared I just paid no attention to it and began to fly to space. I flew up very high going faster and faster when I felt very hot. I was wearing a big blanket over me I spun upside-down while flying and pulled it of my head. Feeling much cooler I began to fly again. Trying to make it to space I could not go any higher for some reason. I flew back to the ground and saw a friend of mine Kent I was explaining to him that I was dreaming and we could fly around if he wanted. Then I started to lose my lucidity and began to be pulled by the dream. The next thing an ice cream truck went by. Me and all the kids went running to get some ice cream the truck stooped and all the kids could just grab a cone and scoop it them the ice cream for them self then I got my cone and the truck started to pull away before I could get some ice cream I managed to get a little at the last moment and then woke up.

Lucid dream in the flotation tank March/03/01 flying healing love for Jane

I went into the flotation tank at around nine am. Bringing myself to the dream world with my usual technique, I began dreaming. The dream world became very vivid and strong. I was in what appeared to be my old house in Boulder. My brother was there and I knew that I was dreaming. I began to fly all around going up into the air and back down again, trying to get higher and higher.  I landed and saw my brother with some of his friends. I knew that I was dreaming and I said,  “Orion this is a dream. I can fly and so can you.” His friends said that it was not a dream and you are just jumping very high. I ignored them and continued to fly around. I then remembered my intention to do a healing for Jane Kephart. I walk up this big hill and took left turn thinking I will do the healing right here. I saw a rock in the distance and sat on it, next to me was three TV’s and they were on playing something. I paid no attention to them and sat on the rock. I closed my eyes and began to visualize and meditate in the dream word.  Jane was right in front of me and I created a big ball of bright light and gave it to her.  Filling her entire body.  I then awoke from my meditation to the sound of some fire works. They were going off all over. It appeared that it was the Fourth of July.  I walk back to the house and I found my brother I said to him that I am dreaming and I just got done doing a healing for Jane Kephart.  But I was not satisfied with the healing and I wanted to bring Jane to the party that was going on in the house. The house was our current house that we live in now on Kirkwood. I began to say Jane come to me Jane. I went out to the living room and there was one person dancing to the music. When I said Jane one more time I saw that it was her. I went out to the dance floor and began dancing with her.  I started to create energy into my hand. I passed it through her, as we danced very romantically.  Knowing that the antidote for her illness is Venus I began to get very affectionate with her I remember thinking that this is a dream and this is for Jane nobody is really looking at us. We danced and kissed as I passed energy into her we then fell to the floor and started to kiss. At this point I woke up from the over stimulation of emotion. Dream ended at 10am.

Lucid dream in the tank 11/30/00 1:30-12:00am trying to fly feeling of falling

I went in to the flotation tank to have a lucid dream and after about 30 minutes I started to dream. I was with my brother and Karina and we were trying to fly. I knew that I was dreaming but I was only semi –lucid. I tried to fly a couple of times by myself but every time that I did, I started to fall. So I grabbed my brother and Karina and went to the top of a tall house. There was a little girl sleeping in her bedroom and Karina didn’t want to wake her up. So we went on the tallest part of the building and jumped off. We all fell to a lower part of the building and tried again. We all fell to the ground, then I sat with everyone thinking that is strange, this is a dream we should be able to fly as I woke up.

Lucid dream in the tank feeling fear and love.  TITLE- fear awakens love healing. 03/16/01

Went into the tank at 6am, after a while I started to dream. As I was entering the Dream State I was fully conscious and knew that I was dreaming. I knew my intention that I wanted to do healing for my friend Jane. I was trying to fly out of this building and I got stuck in this very strange cellar. I went up and my heel was stuck. I said this is a dream and I can fly right through this but I was having so much trouble.  I was starting to feel stuck. I knew that this fear was lowering my vibration. I was able to break free of the cellar door and it was very cold out side. I had no shoos on and I could feel my feet in the cold snow. I was running trying to fly up and get out of the snow. But I could not fly. I started to ignore the cold and sat down into the snow and said I will do the healing for her here.  I sat in the snow and tried to bring healing energy into my hands. I could start to feel the energy as it flowed a little bit; I could not see any energy. At that moment I heard a noise coming from a shed in the near distance. I knew that something or some one was coming closer to me. I started to get very afraid and thought that this is the dream world and that I don’t want to be afraid for if I am afraid I will lower my vibration to a lower level.  Keeping this in mind I told my self that I will awake now. Instantly I was in the tank.  I began to raise my vibration by thinking of all the great times that I had in my life.  I began to fall back into the dream world. This time I was by the ocean and my wife was with me. I started to make love to her on the table in the park. It was so beautiful the feeling of making love out in the open. When we were finished I remembered my intention to do the healing for Jane. At this point I was starting to wake up a little bit. I went and found Jane. As I was filled with loving energy I started to give Jane the energy that she needed in various places in her body. I began do dance with Jane and filled her with light and love, as I was dancing with her I gave her the most beautiful bunch of flowers. I then brought her to my institute and she was lying on the massage table, I continued to fill her body with energy in the appropriate areas until her entire body was filled with a golden yellow color. I then awake for real and finally this time. Or so I thought. All of a sudden my dad jumped into the tank with me, then Steve, a little girl and last but not least Hannibal the dog. I was trying so hard to kick the dog out of the tank thinking that this is a professional business and I cant have dogs in the tank. At this point I lost all my lucidity and was just dreaming. I got Hannibal out of the tank and then woke up for the last and finale time. End of experience.

Tank experience lucid dream 12/27/00 flying with the dead/ feeling of fright

I went in to the tank at 630am and started to have my lucid dream. I was with my wife Karina in the car. I was thinking this is a dream and I want to make love to her but I then thought that I might wake my self up if I did so I stopped. But I got a little excited and woke and I then went back into the dream- state. I was at my dad’s house and I was with Barbara and my dad and I thought that Barb could use some healing. I rubbed my hands together really fast and started to gather a bunch of energy for her. She then got up just as I was going to put the energy in to her and grabbed a crystal and told me to put the energy in to it. I did and then started to wake a little bit so I began to spin and tried not to wake myself up.  I was pretty much awake when I started to come out of my body. I knew that it was different than the lucid dream because I began to hear a buzzing or swishing sound really close in my ear.  I then floated out of my body. It was very hard to keep my concentration, but when I got out everything got really warm.  I was in my dad’s house and I tried to fly through the window but just smashed my face on it. Then I say a little boy. The boy was outside. I went to a window and flew through it and started to follow this little boy as he went up and around the house and then into the sky.  I said I would now fly to space and follow him. As I was flying up into space I could see thousands of little dragonflies in the air.  I looked to my left and could see about 20 or so dead people floating in to the sky. I got a bit scared but then I remembered that it was just a dream and said I will now fly to space I flew up into he clouds very fast until I got to a couple of stars and awoke.

Tank experience lucid dream 12/5/00 flying to space/ feeling out of control

I went into the flotation tank and after about 30 min I began to feel the dream world creep up on me, I started to hear things and see dream people all around me.  I then started to fly around and I thought, I am just going to play around in this dream. I want to fly to space.  I started to fly very high into the sky. As I passed some trees I could see the telephone wires coming towed me, I grabbed on to one because I started to fall down.  I then began to fly even higher dodging telephone wires all over the place. When I got past the phone wires, I began to get pulled very fast in an upward sideways direction. I was being pulled from my stomach and I was hurling through the air backwards.  I got pulled up into the stars thinking that I might be in space, when I fell back to the ground. After that I forgot that I was dreaming and in the dream I was playing foot ball with my brother and mom and Michelle. It was icy on the road. We got the ball and it was so big that I couldn’t hold it in my hands. I asked for a smaller one and woke up.

Dream Lotus and Flame Technique

The Tibetan inspired Dream Lotus technique for entering LDs shares with the “Counting Yourself to Sleep” technique the practice of maintaining a constant focus of your awareness as you fall asleep. The Dream Lotus, however, involves a very different kind of mental task. Instead of the verbal “I’m dreaming” recitation, it calls for visualization of a complex symbolic image located in the throat. From what is known of the patterns of brain activity associated with such mental processes, it seems that the visualization activity may well encourage a different brain state from that evoked by the counting, at least for some people. This is speculation at this time, but the act of picturing a lotus in the throat may have some effect on subsequent mental events, given that many mystical traditions use mental concentration on specific areas of the body to promote certain special states of mind. From practicing Concentration and Visualization exercises, you should now be ready to make good use of this technique. Even so, you will probably find it helpful to practice the technique while you are wide-awake at first, before trying it on the verge of sleep.

 

Exercise: Dream Lotus and Flame Technique

A. Create a mental image of a lotus flower with a flame in the center. Enclosed is a picture of a lotus flower with a flame in the middle of it. Look at the picture and then create a mental image of it within your mind’s eye.

B. Put the image in your throat. Practice placing the image of the Lotus and Flame in your throat area/chakra. Use the “Creating a Mental Image in Space” and “Manipulating a Mental Image” exercises to develop your skill at locating the Lotus and Flame image within your throat.

C. Prepare for a nap. Just as in the Counting Exercise, wake up 90 minutes earlier than usual in the morning. Get out of bed. Return to bed 90 minutes later for a nap, arranging to be wakened 90 minutes to 2 hours later.

D. Relax. Use your favorite Relaxation Exercise to release all tension. Let go of worries and concerns.

E. Visualize the Lotus and the Flame. Create the image of the Lotus with the Flame coming out of its center within your throat area/chakra. Once you have given life to this image, let it continue to exist in your throat. Don’t force trying to keep it there; instead, passively admire and enjoy it.

F. Observe your imagery. Watch how the image of the flame in the center of the lotus interacts with other images that arise in your mind. Don’t get caught up with any other images or thoughts, just observe them go by. Continually maintain the lotus image.

G. Blend with the image. As you contemplate the flame in the lotus, your awareness should gradually begin to merge with the image. Allow the distinction between you, the observer, and the lotus you are observing, to disappear. Your consciousness will now persist as long as the image of the lotus does, remaining present until you are in a dream, and lucid. Complete your 90 minute nap. Relaxation Techniques


Exercise 1.

Auto-suggestion Sit or lie down. Get comfortable. Close your eyes and breathe deeply. Visualize your physic
body, starting from your feet and moving up toward the top of your head. As you visualize each body segment, say to yourself that your body is becoming totally relaxed. Repeat this until your whole boy is as relaxed as you like. The following relaxation exercises are all based on autosuggestion.

Exercise 2.

Ball of Light Visualize a ball of light at your third eye (at the middle of your forehead). When the light is as bright and strong as possible, slowly move it down your face to your neck. Remember to think about being relaxed during this whole process. Next, see the light branching out from the outside of your right shoulder, moving down the outside of your right arm. When the light reaches your hand, trace the outside of your fingers. Bring the ball of light slowly back up the inside of your right arm until you reach your armpit, then move the light across your chest to the outside of your left arm, and repeat the process. Once the ball of light is up to your left armpit, move it down your chest and stomach. Now move the ball of light to your right hip, then down the outside of your right leg to your foot, tracing your toes. Then move it up the inside of your right leg. Suggest to yourself that the relaxation is stronger than the tension. Move the ball of light across your genital area to the inside of your left leg and down to your foot, tracing your toes, and then up the outside of your left leg. At your left hip, start moving the ball of light up your back to your neck, and then along the back of your head, over the top of your head and back once again to your third eye. The moment the light is at your third eye, you may feel a sensation of relaxation throughout your entire body, making the necessary connection for total relaxation. Exercise 3.

Moving Light Take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Stretch your muscles and begin to relax. Imagine that warm currents of mental energy are slowly moving up through the soles of your feet toward your ankles. Feel the muscles in your feet gradually warming and relaxing as you imagine the currents passing through them. Imagine that the warming currents of thought energy continue to move up into your calves, into your thighs, through your hips, and into your buttocks. Now they enter into your lower back and abdomen. Proceed slowly, giving yourself time for each group of muscles to become fully relaxed before moving onto the next part of your body. Feel the muscles in your legs becoming heavy, warm, and relaxed, while your whole body begins sinking down into the chair or bed beneath you. When you feel your legs becoming very relaxed, imagine the mental currents moving in a clockwise motion around your abdomen, up along your spine, and through the front of your torso into your chest and shoulders. Feel the muscles in your stomach and lower back releasing any tightness as the current passes through them. Allow a feeling of well being to begin flowing through your whole body along with the imaginary currents as you continue to relax. When the lower half of your body is warm and relaxed, imagine the currents flowing upward through your ribs and shoulders, warming and relaxing the upper body and leaving your back and chest feeling completely warm and free of any stress or tension. Now imagine the currents turning around to move downward through your arms and into your fingertips. Imagine the currents swirling around through your fingers and then moving upward once more, back up through your arms and neck toward the top of your head. Now feel the muscles in your neck and face gradually becoming warm and relaxed as the imaginary currents pass through them. Then imagine the currents flowing through the top of your head, leaving your entire body feeling comfortably warm, heavy and relaxed. Feel your entire body sinking luxuriously down into the chair or bed beneath you. (Adapted from “Mental Currents” Exercise, Day 15, Harary & Weintraub, 1989; p. 51-52)

Exercise 5.

Pot Shaped Breathing. This exercise can be done in conjunction with any or all of the above four relaxation exercises. Get comfortable. Because it is often too easy to fall asleep while lying down, you may wish to perform the relaxation, meditation and concentration exercises presented here in a comfortable sitting position. The first time you practice this exercise, however, you should lie on your back on a firm surface. Loosen your clothing at neck and waist. Close your eyes. Rest your hands lightly on your abdomen so that your thumbs rest on the bottom of your rib cage and your middle fingers meet over your navel. Study your breathing and take a long, slow inhalation, followed by a long slow exhalation. Then return to a breathing pattern that is just a little slower and deeper than usual, and notice your midsection. Direct your attention to your hands, and you will see that your diaphragm and belly muscles contribute a great deal to both the intake and expulsion of breath from your lungs. Feel the motions of your abdomen and notice how different groups of muscles expand and contract as you rhythmically fill, then empty your lungs. Concentrate on the point where your inhalation begins, at the juncture of your abdomen and the bottom of the chest, filling your lungs from the bottom up. Simply pay attention to the way your body feels as you breathe. Breathe slowly and deeply. Allow your breath to find a calm but normal rhythm. Don’t force it, but allow your diaphragm and solar plexus to contribute more to the “pot-shaped” phase of your breathing. Your abdomen should extend out roundly as you inhale, like a pot. Think of yourself as inhaling nourishing energy in the form of light, then sending the light through your body with your exhalation. Feel this “light” or oxygen flow from your lungs through your arteries and capillaries to bring nutrients and energy to every cell of your body. (Adapted from LaBerge & Rheingold, 1990: p. 85)

The above relaxation exercises involve visualization, the sense associated with sight in the dream world, and feeling that which is visualized, the sense that is associated with emotion in the dream world. As we move on to more of these meditations, they get more advanced, such as in the wake induced manifestation exercise. Having the ability to visualize and feel what you visualize will be very important. The only way that this can be accomplished is by practicing. There is a lot of information on meditation and there are even more exercises around that involve visualization and feeling what has been visualized. It would be of great benefit to investigate and find or invent a meditation that you can do that will enhance your ability to use all seven of your senses by will, just as you use the five senses you are used to by will.

The Weirdness of WILDs

Below we will see LaBerge’s description of some WILDs as “weird”. This got Jerimiah to thinking about the weirdness of many modern cartoons, where physically impossible things occur constantly. So he adapted a technique from Keith Harary’s book, using a fantasy cartoon as an incubation device for WILDs. But, before we get to that, let’s see what Dr. LaBerge has to say about what he calls

“The weirdness of WILDs”.
“As this course is designed to help you learn how to enter the dream state consciously, you should be prepared for what that experience may be like. The set of physiological conditions that make WILDs possible is also conducive to some strange mental experiences. The physiological state is characterized by the brain being awake and active as the body is paralyzed in the REM state. Some of the sensations this combination has been known to trigger are: being unable to move, heavy weights on the chest (sometimes in the form of monsters or incubi), ‘electricity’ running around in the head or body, vibrations, loud buzzing, rushing or roaring sounds, body parts melting, and the feeling of leaving the body. “Research has shown that direct entry into the dream state from waking may be responsible for a large proportion of ‘out-of-body’ experiences. It is surely the cause of ‘sleep paralysis’ episodes, in which people awaken to find that they cannot move or cry out, and are subject to attacks by monsters and strange forces. Sleep paralysis can be quite terrifying, but it is harmless.
Not everyone experiences these events during WILDs. However, when they do happen, it is essential to remember that all of these strange and awesome experiences are happening within your mind, so you can avoid unnecessary anxiety and not miss out on good LD opportunities. As with nightmares, if you reframe a distressing situation as a dream, created by you, which cannot hurt you, the experience can become strange and wonderful. There sometimes is an extraordinary feeling of excitement and energy about WILDs. If the dreamer is non-lucid or doesn’t understand what is happening, the excitement can turn to fear. However, if you retain your reason and balance and remember that the sensations mark the onset of a dream, the excitement can become exhilaration and delight. Even if things get extra bizarre, keep in mind that it is a dream, and in a few minutes you will awaken, whether you are ready to or not! With that in mind, you should now be ready to take off on some fabulous adventures.”

Awakening only moments after becoming lucid is one of the most frequently cited difficulties faced by LDers. Happily, this problem is easily solved and is primarily a hurdle for beginning LDers to overcome.
The problem of avoiding premature awakening from LDs breaks down into two phases. The first step for many will be to learn how to get beyond the initial flash, “Wow! This is a LD!” without jolting awake. The next stage is to achieve some proficiency in methods of prolonging LDs long enough to achieve your goals.
The general strategy for preventing immediate awakening is to suppress the expression of excitement and to engage in the dream. As a model of how to contain the thrill of becoming lucid, imagine what it’s like to be dealt a winning hand in poker. If you let it be known what you are holding by showing your delight, you won’t win much. Instead, you want to be “cool”, a mood that can be practiced, and save your excitement for after you have won, or, in this case, after the LD has reached a suitable end.
Involving yourself in the LD is as essential as keeping your cool. Becoming lucid can distance you from the events of the dream, because it is generally not a part of the ongoing “story line” of the dream. In fact, withdrawing from the dream plot is a useful method of ending a dream. To ensure the continuance of the LD, you should fully engage yourself in the dream scene you are in when you become lucid. If your senses are completely involved in the impressions of the dream, they are less likely to make the switch to perceiving waking reality. This strategy of perceptual engagement is also the keystone of methods for prolonging LDs, such as the spinning technique described below.

Exercise Techniques for Staying Lucid
1. Restrain the impulse to jump and shout for joy. It’s fine to be excited, but don’t express your excitement outwardly.
2. Engage yourself in the LD. Immediately after realizing that you are dreaming, turn your attention to what’s happening in the dream. Look at, listen to, and feel the events and things around you in the dream world.
3. Move around. Get your body’s senses of movement involved in the dream by moving through the dream scene. Run, fly, or dance, while continuing to observe and interact with the dream scenes.
4. Spinning. One of the best techniques for prolonging a LD once you’re there is spinning the “dream body”. If the LD begins to fade out and waking up seems imminent, spin the “dream body” around and around until a new dream scene emerges. The exercise below has you practice spinning while awake so you are prepared when the opportunity arises in a LD. Below see LaBerge’s advice for proper utilization of the Spinning Technique.
A. Practice spinning while awake. In case you have any inhibitions that might make you feel silly spinning around, try it now. Put down these instructions, go into an open space, and spin around a few times. Do it now.
B. Relive a dream and practice spinning. Pick a recent LD from your dream journal; or, if you have not had any LDs recently, pick any dream. Read it to remind yourself of what happened and especially focus on the events that occurred just before you awakened.Now, stand in an open space, and, with your eyes closed, imagine living through the last part of the dream again. When you reach the end, picture yourself, instead of waking up, catching the moment when it is just starting to fade. Open your eyes, and spin around a few times as you did in Step a. above, repeating to yourself, “the next scene will be a dream.” Then, imagine that you are dreaming still, in a new scene that is the room around you, and do something, or imagine doing something you would enjoy doing in a LD.
C. Spin in a LD. The next time you have a LD, be alert for the first signs that it is about to end. Usually, the visual aspects change first, by fading, losing color saturation, or becoming cartoon-like. As soon as this starts to happen, while you are still feeling your “dream body,” (that is, not your physical body, in bed), spin around rapidly, telling yourself repeatedly, “The next scene will be a dream. “ When you stop spinning, your surroundings may be unmistakably a dream. However, if you believe you have awakened, do a Reality Test! Try reading something you find in your environment. Now, try reading it again.
D. Note: Some people find the sensation evoked by fully body spinning to be unpleasant. Although feelings of dizziness seem to be less common in dreams than in waking life, if you dislike spinning there is an alternative that may be as effective. This is to rotate just your arms in large circles, originating from your shoulders. The essential aspect of both types of “spinning” appears to be the sensation of velocity produced by circular motions.
 

5. Maintain your intention to do whatever it is you wish to do in your LD.

Set specific goals and attempt to attain them in your LD.
A. Look at your hands. This is the now famous advice from the renegade anthropologist, Carlos Castaneda, derived from his shamanic informant, Don Juan, an early LD expert.Once you’ve attained and maintained lucidity on several occasions, you will be thrilled to apply that lucidity to any special interest or problems of your own. The applications are literally limitless. A few to get you started thinking along these lines are: travel, lucid sex, meeting people far away or even meeting dead people, rehearsal of skills, such as sports or musical skills, problem solving of any sort, acquiring special knowledge, creating new forms of any sort. The acronym MILD stands for Mnemonic Induction of LDs. A mnemonic is a memory-aid, and MILD is a LD induction technique based on memory. This is why we have been improving our memories. The MILD technique is based on remembering that we want to recognize when we are dreaming. Our efforts up until now have been to teach ourselves to carry out intentions to do things in the future by mental effort alone (no written reminder notes!) and by increasing our powers of concentration. Because MILD is practiced during the night, it is very useful for producing multiple LDs in one night. Each time we do MILD, our aim is to become lucid in our very next dream. If we practice MILD before each REM period, we could become lucid in four or five different dreams. MILD is the technique of choice if the goal is to learn to have LDs at will, whenever we like.
MILD requires concentration and short periods of wakefuness during the night, so it is best used when you have extra time available for sleep. The following steps guide you through MILD. The exercise has you first practice while you are alert in the daytime, then at bedtime, and finally after awakening from a dream in the night. This allows you to build up your skill at MILD when your mind is in the best shape—wide awake—so that you know what you are doing when it comes to practicing it when you are groggy in the middle of the night.

Mneumonic Induced LD
1. Daytime Practice
A. Memorize a dream. Right after awakening in the morning and recording your dreams of the night before, choose one in which you would really have liked to become lucid. Memorize it in detail so that you can visualize yourself being conscious through it again.
B. Pick a time to practice. Set aside twenty minutes in the day to practice the MILD technique. It should be a time when you can be alone in a quiet place, in a comfortable chair. Pick a time when you will be alert, not sleepy.
C. Sit down and relax. At your chosen time, sit down and get comfortable. Do a relaxation exercise.
2. Practice MILD
A. Recall your chosen dream. With your eyes closed, recall to mind the dream you memorized this morning. Visualize yourself back in it. Feel yourself being in the dream, thinking the thoughts of the dream, seeing the sights of the dream, hearing the sounds of the dream.
B. Focus your intent. Concentrate on the thought/autosuggestion “The next time I’m dreaming, I’ll remember to recognize that I’m dreaming.”
C. See yourself becoming lucid. Visualize yourself becoming lucid in the dream you have memorized. Feel the excitement of becoming lucid, and picture yourself doing what you would like to do once you are lucid. See yourself waking from your LD at will and remembering it perfectly. See and feel yourself enjoying the LD exaltation experience after you awaken.
3. Bedtime Practice
A. Memorize a dream. Just as for the Daytime Practice, in the morning commit to memory one dream from the night before in which you would have liked to become lucid.
B. Prepare for sleep. When you are ready to go to bed for the night, get ready as usual. Follow your usual bedtime routine. If you wish, give yourself some time to mull over the day’s events, so you can let them go to concentrate on the MILD Exercise.
C. Relax. Use the relaxation exercise that works best for you to release tension and achieve a quiet state of mind. But don’t let yourself fall asleep yet.
4. Practice MILD
A. Follow the instructions for the Daytime Practice of MILD above, except continue the exercise, cycling through recalling the dream, focusing your intent, and seeing yourself becoming lucid, doing whatever you wish, wakening when you wish, remembering everything about the LD, feeling the post-LD exaltation after you waken, over and over again until you fall asleep.
5. Mid-Sleep Practice
A. Set your intention to awaken from dreams. As you fall asleep for the night, assert to yourself that you will awaken after dreams during the night. Remind yourself that you want to recall your dreams clearly and to do the MILD Exercise.
B. Awaken from a dream and recall it. When you awaken from a dream in the night, first recall it in as much detail as you can, and then write out enough of it to describe the basic events and scenes of the dream.
C. Increase your wakefulness. Get out of bed. Go to the bathroom and wash your face with cool water. Carefully test reality to make sure that you are actually awake! Do some stretches to increase your circulation and alertness.
D. Return to bed. Get back in bed, and read your dream report, noting any important recurring dream images you find in it. Stephen LaBerge calls these recurring dream images “dreamsigns,” and uses them as triggers for lucidity. Tell yourself that when you next see any of the dreamsigns you will recognize them as cues that you are dreaming.
E. Turn out the light and relax. Do a relaxation exercise to release tension and calm your mind. Don’t go to sleep yet!
6. Practice MILD
A. Recall your dream. Visualize yourself back in the dream you just awakened from.
B. Focus your intent. Concentrate on the thought/autosuggestion, “The next time I’m dreaming, I’ll remember to recognize that I’m dreaming.”
C. See yourself becoming lucid. Visualize yourself becoming lucid in the dream you just had. Pick one of your dreamsigns and imagine that it cues you to realize that you are dreaming. Feel the excitement of becoming lucid, and picture yourself doing what you would like to do once you are lucid. Lay it on thick, have a good time. When you’ve had enough fun, and accomplished whatever you set out to do, see yourself waking from your LD at will and remembering it perfectly. See and feel yourself enjoying the post-LD exaltation experience after you awaken.
D. Maintain your focus. Cycle through steps A., B., and C. until you fall asleep. Again, if the concentration keeps you awake for more than twenty minutes and this bothers you, let go and just make sure your last thought is of your intention to remember to become lucid. However, staying awake and concentrating longer may enhance your chances of having a LD that night.

This technique for becoming lucid in a dream is the same as becoming lucid in the waking state.
The dreamsigns that are found and used in practicing Mild have a direct relationship to the major events that occur in our lives. That is, the major events that happen in our lives, especially those that surround discord, are signs for becoming aware. Discordant events that affect our lives in a major way are caused by vibrations in the dream body as they are expressing themselves. The dreamsigns, or recurring events that appear in the dream, are used to attain lucidity (awareness) within the dream. Therefore, knowing the different vibrations of the dream body as they express themselves is lucidity in the waking state. As we become familiar with the various exercises of attaining awareness and gaining control in the dream state, we can use that knowledge and apply it to our waking lives. In conscious manifestation, waking signs that occur during our day to day lives are important. By practicing applying control through intention in the LD, and by applying certain exercises based on alchemy when our waking signs are present, we can move toward mastering the art of directed thinking and induced emotion.

In order to make various techniques of LD incubation successful, we need to be able to remember to do things that we have planned to do. Psychologists call this “prospective memory” development. We all use prospective memory every day to remind us to do necessary and ordinary things, such as picking up the laundry, paying bills, meeting appointments, and brushing our teeth. Prospective memory becomes more difficult when the planned action is new to us, and we are not stimulated to remember it by frequent, salient cues. Unfortunately, we cannot use written memos to help us remember to do things in our dreams, and that makes it quite challenging to remember to carry out our intention to recognize when we are dreaming.
One way around this difficulty is to make a habit of questioning our mental state. This is the purpose of the Reflection/Intention exercise explained below. Another way is to develop our prospective memory so that we don’t have to rely on external cues to remember to notice when we are dreaming. Memory in general seems to be somewhat less functional in the dream state than in the waking state.
The following exercises will help you remember to do things by mental effort alone. This exercise is designed to condition your memory to ask yourself if you are dreaming or awake at the appropriate times. This exercise for LD teaches you how to ask if your are dreaming when a dream sign is present, and strengthens your memory. Practicing this exercise for LD can also condition your memory to apply the Mnemonic manifestation exercise that follows. When your waking signs are present in life in this way, you are using the road to LD as a guide to conscious manifestation.

EXERCISE: Prospective Memory Development: 7- Day Calendar
A. Memorize targets.
The Prospective Memory Targets table below shows seven days of targets. When you get up in the morning, before doing anything else, read the targets for the day. Memorize them, and put the sheet of paper where you won’t see it during the day.

B. Watch for targets.
Throughout the entire day, watch for your targets. Your goal is to notice the very first occurrence of each event. When you notice one, perform a State Test. You are aiming to observe each target one time, the first time it occurs.

C. Record hits and misses.
Keep track of your success in your Dream Class notebook or your dream journal. You have hit a target if you noticed it the first time it happened. If you miss a target the first time it happens and realize it later, that is a miss, even if you remember it the second time it happens. If you are sure that a target did not happen during the day, note “never happened” in your notebook or journal.

D. Count your hits.
Try to hit more targets each day, until you can easily hit all five.
E. Continue for seven days.
Each day, read only the targets for that day. Don’t refer to them again until the end of the day, to tally your hits and misses. Complete instructions are on the Prospective Memory Development sheet.

We were introduced to autosuggestion above. Here, let’s get deeper into this topic. Autosuggestion is like intention; it is a widely used psychological technique with which we are all familiar. Dr. Patricia Garfield first introduced it to the public in her book on dream work back in 1974. Stephen LaBerge calls it a “laid-back” technique because it is so simple and easy. The Autosuggestion Technique removes all pressure to succeed. The key to using autosuggestion is to feel confidence in yourself. So relax, smile, think good thoughts about yourself and follow the steps below. Use this technique whenever you like when you wish to have LDs, but feel you cannot give any extra mental effort.

Exercise: Autosuggestion Technique

1. Autosuggestion
A. Establish a feeling of self-confidence. Think of something you are really good at. It could be anything, significant or trivial, such as writing poems, designing greenhouses, cooking healing meals, growing flowers and herbs, mountain climbing, computer games, fixing things, or throwing wads of paper into the wastebasket across the room. Remember how you feel when you are doing this thing you are really good at. What is it like to feel completely sure of yourself, confident of your ability? When you’ve got that feeling, you are ready to go on to the next step, which may be done either at bedtime or during an awakening in the night.

B. Relax and create a feeling of confidence in yourself.
When you are in bed, release your tensions by doing a relaxation exercise. Then, bring to mind the feeling of being fully confident in your ability that you discovered in step A. above. Immerse yourself in feeling good about your competence. Hold that feeling; and go on to step C.

C. Suggest to yourself that you will have LDs.
While maintaining the feeling of calm confidence you called up in the last step, tell yourself “I can have LDs, and I look forward to my next one.” Don’t assert that it must happen tonight or at any specific times. Be happily expectant of having a LD and picture yourself, in your next LD, engaged in enjoyable and inspiring activity. Create a feeling of certainty that you will have LDs in the future.

2. Practice for Counting into a LD
Relax. Lie down or sit comfortably. If you are sleepy, sit rather than lie down. Use a relaxation exercise, such as the Ball of Light or the 61-Points to release all physical tension.

A. Breathe.

Do the Pot-Shaped Breath Exercise Continue with it for a few minutes, until your Pot-Shaped breathing is smooth, regular and automatic.

B. Count Your Breaths.

As you inhale, think “One” and build up a mental picture of the number 1 floating before your mind’s eye. Make it as solid an image as you can.
C. Exhale.

As you exhale, focus on the number 1 you have imagined and think of nothing else.

D. Inhalation.
On your next inhalation, release the number 1, let it disappear, then think “Two” and build up an image of the number 2.

E. Exhalation.
As you exhale, focus on the number 2 in your mind and think of nothing else. Think only of it.

F. Continue this process.
Continue up through the number 9 and then start again with the number 1. Repeat until you are satisfied with your progress.

G. Reject Distractions.
Other thoughts are likely to pop into your mind, asking for your attention. Don’t give in to them. Ignore the other thoughts. Do this passively; that is, don’t get upset about them or try to forcefully eject them from your mind. Just acknowledge, “that’s a thought”, then ignore it and return to your counting/visualization.

H. Continue.
Keep up the concentration as long as it feels comfortable or until you need or want to stop. Each day you should try to extend the time you spend in these concentration exercises, until you can easily do any of them for 20 minutes.

What is Lucid Dreaming?

The Lucid Dream

We all have heard the expression “Is this a dream?” and “Are we asleep really dreaming this reality?” In many cultures, religions and philosophies have the concept that we are dreaming and that everyday life is a dream. In the next two chapters, I’ll provide possible answers to the question “Is this a dream?” by describing LD.
LD is the state of being aware of the dream at the time of the dream. Most people believe LD is controlled dreaming. However, the term lucid means awareness, not control. LD is the state of knowing that we are dreaming during the dream. If you were dreaming that you were reading this book, and all of a sudden you realized that you were actually lying in your bed dreaming, this realization is the moment when the dream becomes lucid, the moment when you become aware of the state of consciousness you are in. This awareness is not control because there can be dream control without lucidity, and there can be lucidity without control. The goal of the person who practices LD is to become lucid and have control at the same time. A person can have what is known as a semi-LD, then a full LD, to the point of having what is called a high LD.
The semi-LD is the state of being in the dream and knowing that you are dreaming, but having no control. This state is very similar to being a puppet in a play. The environment is controlling what is happening. The LD is the state where, in the dream, you know that you are dreaming and you have some sort of control, from the ability to be in control of your body, to being able to direct the whereabouts in the dream environment (such as deciding to walk across the street in the dream), to having enough control over the dream environment itself and having the choice to manipulate or move within the dream environment (a high LD). A high LD is where you have the control mentioned above, and can carry out some sort of spectacular intention, such as a healing for another or meeting a teacher; some type of event that would have a higher purpose or be considered to be amazing in the waking state.
The following LD is an example of a theme taken from my waking life, which some writers call “day residue”, taken from my book My Adventures in LD. I had decided to look at a drawing of patterns and shapes I encountered in a past LD. I stared at the drawing and then closed my eyes and visualized it, doing this three or four times. This is a technique for re-experiencing visual imagery that I developed. I think of it as taking a polaroid shot of an image, then being able to visualize it very clearly later. The eye closing is like the blinking of a camera shutter. I had the image in my head and could see it well. I started to count: “One, I’m dreaming; two, I’m dreaming,” up to one hundred, as Stephen LaBerge suggests. Then I started over. Below is a description of the semi-LD:
“Fighting”
As I’m counting, I can feel myself being pulled into the image. The next thing I know, I’m driving a car to a concert. My brother, Orion, and some friends are with me. When we get there, we go inside and find our seats. I look up and see the person who robbed my house about two years ago in my waking life. When I see him, I start to walk away to get a drink of soda. On my way back, I bump into him and his friends. He orders a Chinese guy to fight me, but I just keep walking. I get back to our seats and my friend is very mad. The next thing I know, I’m fighting the man who robbed my house. I beat him up and all of his friends, too. But when I get back to the seats the concert is over and everyone has left, including all of my friends. All of a sudden, I’m at my Ward house, telling my Dad about the concert and how I had kicked these people’s ass. Then it dawns on me – how did I get home? That’s when I realize that I’m dreaming. I say to myself, “I’m dreaming!” At this moment, Orion and all my friends walk in the door. I realize that I have the keys to the car, so I look down in my fanny-pack and the keys are still in there. This surprises me so much I wake up.

The next dream describes my use of the technique of spinning to bring back lucidity in the dream state:

“Patterns”
This time I’m flying about my house in Ward, when I realize I’m dreaming! I fly straight up past the clouds, trying to get to Space. Suddenly I hit a wall of patterns. There is a box with different shapes and patterns inside of it. I go inside that box. When I’m inside, the shapes and patterns of that box become the background, and I discover that there is a box with a smaller box inside of it. Once I’m inside the smaller box, the patterns in the smaller box becomes the background, and there is a box with a smaller box inside containing a circle of checkers. When I’m inside that, the checkers become the background, and there is a box with a smaller box inside which contains a circle or a spiral of checkers going inward. When I finally enter the spiral of checkers, I wake up.

The next dream describes using intention to enter another LD, and healing myself in it. I had repeated the neumonic: “ I will dream that I’m flying, and when I am, I’ll recognize that I’m dreaming and I’ll surround myself with healing energy from my LD.” This is an example of a high LD, and of how intention is important for control:
“Healing Myself”
I’m talking to my Dad as we walk toward some tall buildings. I know I’m dreaming and I begin to fly. Now I’m on top of a building with some friends. I glance over two buildings away from me and see my Dad standing there. It seems that he wants to come over to me, but he can’t fly. I think of bridges connecting the buildings and instantly they appear. He begins walking towards me. Then I realize my intention of healing myself, thinking I can’t do it with these people disturbing me. So I fly down to some trees and sit in a cross-legged position. I create a ball of yellow energy between my hands. I instantly surround myself with this yellow energy. I can feel its power. It becomes so strong that I wake up.

As I awakened from this dream, I was amazed to find that my cold was gone and I felt great! This demonstrates that having an intention is very important and can help us accomplish what we wish to do. Having a clear intention is especially important in a healing situation because the power of the dream state is most amazing, and without an intention we cannot make use of that power.
Two important factors need to be considered here. One is the lucidity, or awareness of the state of consciousness, within a dream state. The second is the control that we have in this state of consciousness, whether it is a little or a lot. Let’s first consider control, because we can have one without the other. In the semi-LD, there is either no control, or just enough control to have the choice of thoughts. The reason it is called semi-lucid is because we just barely, a little bit in the back of our mind, know that we’re dreaming. In this case, there is only a little bit of awareness of the dream state, giving little or no control over the dream environment. The amount of awareness we have that we are dreaming (the environment) is what gives us the control. Therefore, the more aware we are that we are dreaming, the more control we have within the dream, until practice eventually results in LD becoming fully lucid, which is being fully aware that we are in our beds dreaming. This full awareness gives us the control. The amount of awareness of the environment that we are in will determine the amount of control that can be exerted. This brings us to the high LD, where there is some intention applied to the awareness in the dream to carry out a spectacular task.
To summarize, we can say that: (1) lucidity is awareness; (2) awareness gives us control; and (3) intention gives us the ability to apply the control. LD is a perfect metaphor for conscious manifestation. To understand the relationship of conscious manifestation to LD, we must look at the environments where the awareness is, and compare them to see what they have in common and how they are connected to each other. As mentioned before, one way to attain awareness of what is within our character is through dreams. We have also explained what character and the subconscious mind are, and have discussed the assumptions that the subconscious, or dream body, is made up of both vibrational organs and a substance that is moving faster than the speed of light, such as electromagnetic energy. We have concluded that the electromagnetic world is the dream world. Therefore, by being able to use what comes from our dreams to find what is within our character, we should also be able to assume that the dream world is the place where the dream body is present and that the dream world is the environment that is not seen by the human eye in the waking state that we have called the electromagnetic environment.
By taking Albert Einstein’s relativity theory and relating it to LD, we can say that the world of LD is a world moving faster than the speed of light. If you are a LDer, you know that when you are conscious within the dream, resulting in a LD: (1) time means nothing; (2) distance is not a factor; and (3) you lose gravity.
The world of the LD is in fact a plane of existence or environment that is moving faster than the speed of light. By being able to use what comes from dreams as a method to find out what is within our character, and by knowing that the electromagnetic environment is moving faster than the speed of light, then it should be clear that the dream world is the same environment as the electromagnetic environment. Being able to become aware of this environment by LD is one of the best ways to personally experience instant conscious manifestation. Therefore, the dream world is the astral plane and the dream body is the astral body.
In LD, because this environment moves faster than the speed of light, and also loses gravity, time and distance, we can create instantly through the use of directed thinking and induced emotion through intention. Because there is no gravity to slow down the electromagnetic energy being transmitted by the body, like on the physical plane, there is no friction to slow the energy down, which creates a seemingly instant manifestation effect. Therefore, it is easy to see why it takes a tremendous amount of energy to break the friction barrier created by gravity on the physical plane to instantly create things such as the materialization of a body by Jesus.
The environment of LD and the one that we are in right now are not only present at all times, but they also have a direct correlation to the environment that we have defined as the electromagnetic environment, because they are one and the same environments, even though we don’t see things created by our thoughts and emotions because they are being created in the dream world. Because of gravity, these things aren’t manifested instantly on the physical plane until they have enough energy to break the barrier of friction created by gravity. Until the vibrations of the dream body have a sufficient amount of energy built up, they cannot create or manifest an event on the physical plane. This is because of the different velocities of the different planes, as well as the concept that gravity is, on the physical plane, creating friction.
The techniques for having control and becoming aware in a LD are exactly the same as those used in this book for conscious manifestation. Dream recall is the same as becoming aware that electromagnetic weather and environment exist. As we develop dream recall, practicing LD is the same as becoming aware that we are living in two separate environments.
